Lettering pattern (below)

  1. Lay cloth on flat work surface. Pull threads from bottom and sides to create fringe 1" long.

  2. Fold top down 1 1/4" to 1 1/2". Finger press in place.

  3. Run a bead of glue along the top, unfringed edge. Fold and press in place. Let dry.

  4. Lightly sponge Gold and Bronze paint on to banner. Let dry.

  5. Place carbon paper - carbon side down - onto banner. Place pattern - right side up - over carbon. Trace over lettering with pencil, lifting edges occasionally to check transfer.

  6. Fuse web to wrong side of all fabrics.

  7. Cut out leaf shapes from fabric.

  8. Remove paper backing from web and place leaf cutouts in desired location on banner, making sure not to cover any lettering.

  9. Fuse leaf cutouts to banner.

  10. With Black fabric paint, trace over lettering. Let dry.

  11. With remaining colors of paint, add outlines and other details to leaves, as desired. Let dry.

  12. Insert dowel in to casing at top of banner.

  13. Glue knobs to ends. Let dry.

  14. Tie raffia to dowel at each side for a hanger. Add raffia bows to each side, if desired.

You can alter the look of this banner by using a different color of Duck cloth.

As always, to print these patterns in correct size, you must have your display set to the Windows95 default setting of 96 ppi (pixels per inch).
